“There were two people, and they loved each other. That’s it; that’s our story. The rest is details.” That is how Caitlin and Drew started off the most unique vows that I have ever heard. With it’s performance-playwright cadence, it fit so perfectly up on the stage in the grand Macky Auditorium. They alternated telling parts of their love story, and how they know that they had found the one. Getting to know Drew and Caitlin over the past 8 months or so has been such a fun experience. I love the way they compliment each other, and even though Drew isn’t know to talk a lot, it is beyond apparent how much he cares for Caitlin just in those little moments when he thinks no one sees him staring at her. I have also had the pleasure of getting to know Mrs. Kathy (aka “Rat”) throughout the planning process and there is no mistaking where Caitlin gets her vibrant and outgoing personality. Kathy was not only the mother of the bride, but the planner AND the officiant!
They started their morning getting ready in the choir rooms of the Macky. I loved having the organ as a backdrop for hair and makeup! The ladies weren’t the only ones getting pampered, Drew got the coolest braid with tiny bells weaved in. (And yes, they jingled when he shook it – of COURSE I asked!) The ceremony processional was ushered in by a full bagpipe band which tied in their Scottish heritage with their Jewish, Christian and non-denominational traditions. The moments with Caitlin and her dad before walking down the aisle were priceless
The morning ceremony was followed by a beautiful brunch reception at the Hotel Boulderado. There was a live guitarist, a magician, a Photo Booth – seriously, they thought of everything to entertain their guests. I loved hanging out with the wedding party, and the way that these two ditched the norms and had a brides-man and grooms-ladies. And don’t ever think that people don’t know how to party at a brunch reception! Everyone joined in for dancing and there was even a Hora! (I’m still DYING over the look on Caitlin and Drew’s faces right before they got lifted into the air!) Dani and I had such a great time, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your day!
