As a photographer, I get to be a part of some pretty special events. This time, I was lucky enough to enjoy a great moment for the Stefanoudakis family. Niko was getting baptized! I had met Anthea, Terry and their family a couple years before when I photographed Anthea’s sister Demi’s wedding. I immediately fell in love with their whole family. They have a large family, with lots of loving relatives always laughing and smiling. Anthea, was the maid of honor and she immediately struck me as one of the nicest people I have ever met. Oh and her two little girls! They are so precious. When she called me to see if I was available to capture this great moment for their new little boy I was thrilled! Not only had I not yet met Niko, but I was so excited to see the family again and be a part of such a special event.
It was held at the Assumption of the Theokokos Metropolis Cathedral of Denver. If you have never been in this Cathedral you are missing out. It is so beautiful. With its high dome ceiling painted with bright colors and its gold gilded altar, it is a dream to photograph. Not to mention that I got to be in the action. I was actually able to be up there while Niko was getting rubbed with oil and dunked in the water. It was so cute. He was curious at first, and then understandably not happy. But he endured it like a champ and came out of it all with wonderful God Parents and a freshness to life. When they were done we headed to Pinehurst Country Club to celebrate. Anthea and Terry are so creative! They had a hot air balloon theme with giant balloons on the tables, balloon cookies, and an adorable cake. The highlight was a large basket and balloon for the kids to climb in and play and take pictures. It was surrounded cleverly by balloon clouds. They enjoyed each other as one big family and celebrated with a wonderful dinner and good conversation.
Thank you Anthea and Terry for letting me be a part of such a big moment in your family. I was very honored to be there!
