An Amazing 48 Hours in Istanbul

By December 18, 2015 Adventures

I spent only about 48 hours in Istanbul and fell in love with the city.  The history, the exotic mix of east and west, the food, the people and the architecture make it high on my list of cities I want to return to.

After spending the previous week photographing in Niger, we extended our layover in Istanbul so we could see the city.  It was the best layover I’ve ever had!

There is amazing historic architecture everywhere, but one building that kept capturing my eye was the Blue Mosque.  We had a beautiful view from our hotel and it was one of the most enjoyable structures that I had ever photographed.

One of the most memorable experiences I had was a Turkish bath.  We went to a bath that was over 500 years old and built into a cave.  Between having hot water splashed on me and getting beat up by a big hairy Turkish man, I never felt better.  I will definitely never forget it.  I don’t have an pictures of it, but hope you’ll enjoy the rest of what I captured. – McCory
