I traveled to Atlanta, Georgia with a friend to explore a city that I had just driven through multiple times before. I figured it was time to dive a little deeper. It was well worth it!
My favorite thing about the south is the food and Atlanta didn’t disappoint. We had some wonderful meals, whether it was barbecue for dinner or chicken fried steak for breakfast. I was also pleasantly surprised to find some great breweries as well. Atlanta is also known as being the home of Coca-Cola and it is amazing how much it has shaped the city. I went to the World of Coca-Cola to learn more and really enjoyed sampling all the sodas from around the world.
I also checked out the Oakland Cemetery. It was by far the fanciest cemetery I’ve ever been to. It was fun exploring and seeing mini-cathedrals and amazing tombstones and statues built to remember those that have passed.
At one point early in the trip I did a half-day bike tour to get a feel for the city and learn about it’s history. One of the things that continually stood out was the quality of the murals painted around the city. One of the areas, Krog Street Tunnel, captured my attention so much that I had to go back at night to photograph it. I got some great shots that night and I’m glad I made the trip back.
