I could not have wished for a better couple to photograph on my birthday. KT and Michael are a dream. They are thoughtful and sweet and very fun. I love how KT lights up with Michael and how he opens up with her. He makes her laugh and beam when she is with him. I was delighted to be able to see them on their wedding day and celebrate their great love.
KT and Michael’s wedding day was everything they dreamed. KT had planned to a T and thought of literally everything. As I walked in to the house they were staying she looked absolutely stunning. This girl’s eyes could kill. Yet, her smile could heal. Yes, that is cheesy, but it is seriously true. All her girls were giggling, already have been celebrating for quite a while. It was not just about today, but the time they have had with KT, the time Michael and KT have had together and seen their relationship grow, and the lovely idea that they get to spend the rest of their lives together.
The details started to show early. The dress is perfectly elegant and fun. Her girls colors were the same, a beautiful summer coral with a pop of teal for some interest. She hand attached the lace to her shoes and the start of all the work Michael did wood burning showed in their adorable his and hers vows books. (This was obviously not the only thing he did as there were signs wood burned throughout the ceremony and reception).
They exchanged gifts and as KT read the letter from Michael she had everyone in the room crying. Okay so it was only me, my assistant and the videographer. No, I am not sure he cried but we both cried enough for him. This is where the magic happens. The small moments behind the scenes where you get to hear the secrets of their love for each other. Michael is eloquent and sweet. His words were so lovely and sincere and so fun to see the side of Michael that KT brings out.
After all the adorning and prepping, KT finally got to see her man. The sun had just come out and the rocks at Arrowhead were glowing. Although it was a hot day, nobody seemed to care. Everything melted away as soon as they saw each other. The wedding party joined and the fun started. They were laughing and joking and having a great time. Until I made them hike… no no, they were total troopers! All the girls scaled the rocks in their heels and didn’t complain at all. They just struck their poses and looked like rock stars. Yes, pun intended.
Honestly, like I said it was everything they dreamed. The ceremony was smooth, perfectly sentimental and sweet. Michael’s face, of course, lit up when he saw her. From there we celebrated with the whole wedding joining in for a group photo and to cheer them on. The light was perfect now as we headed down to Arrowhead’s signature hole for some alone time. It seriously couldn’t have been prettier.
This was one of those weddings that you can’t say enough good things about. As I started photographing all I could think was “I love my job, I am so so lucky.” I can’t believe I get to be a part of such great love stories like KT and Michaels. It means the world to me not just to capture their special moments, but be a small part of their lives. Thank you Michael and KT for giving me a glimpse of great love and to let me join your wedding! Your marriage is going to be a wonderful new adventure and a incredible lifelong one too.
