Victoria and James are what a photographer’s dreams are made of. I have been so excited for this couples wedding since the day they chose to have me as their photographer. I’ve done a few dances, smiled a lot and definitely had a blast with them at their engagement session.
As their wedding day quickly approached I found out how important some formal wedding traditions were to them. James wanted to wait to see Victoria as she walked down the isle, which was very endearing. On the other hand there were a few traditions they spiced up and made their own – I’ll get to that a little later.
When my team and I arrived, the girls were jamming to some amazing 90’s hits and the day only got better from there. Everyone was ready to get the show on the road. Gold sparkle dresses were quickly added into the mix, and the girls were ready to get Victoria into her dress. The whole crew then headed outside to spend time taking bridesmaids photos – and they did amazing! Everyone was full of laughs and smiles. I was surprised to find out most of the girls had been friends with Victoria since they were kids!
As the girls tucked away to their suite for a private dance party the boys and I took off with their turn for photos. They were all so handsome, calm and collected. I could tell they were ready to get to the top of the mountain to watch James marry the girl of his dreams. At the top of the mountain, as you can imagine, the temperature was a little chillier than expected. Once the ceremony started everyone was able to forget about the cold and enjoy the moments unfolding before them.
The night kicked off shortly after the ceremony with cocktail hour, and a special grand entrance that led the newlyweds into their first dance. This is the tradition that I mentioned earlier. They started with a regular first dance song, but halfway through the song sped up and their entire wedding party plus many of their guests joined in. It was such a cool moment to witness.
The rest of the night seems like a blur, everyone was constantly smiling, laughing and dancing. Really I do not think I saw the dance floor empty once. It was such an honor to be a part of this wedding day, I am so grateful that Victoria and James planned such an epic day! -Allie
