I grew up in Colorado Springs and took numerous tours of the Mining Exchange. Years later when I found out it was turned into a Wyndham Grand Hotel, I almost couldn’t contain my excitement. It was such a cool concept for a hotel and I was excited to see it. When I met Kate and we talked about where she was getting married my excitement was elevated. I had photographed a wedding their before and the location mixed with Kate and Travis was sure to be an awesome event.
Kate and Travis have a dynamic I love. She is sweet with a snarky edge and like her maid of honor said has an English sense of humor (my favorite as I feel nobody hear gets my jokes). Don’t let my words fool you. She is hilarious and always smiling. Her and her dog ping are a dynamic duo that I would follow anywhere. You add Travis to the mix and you he is the perfect seasoning on that combination. His contagious smile and welcoming demeanor put you at ease immediately. The first time I met Travis was actually at their house for their engagement session and I felt incredibly welcomed.
The day was set up to be awesome. I love how intimate the Mining exchange hotel is, from the ceremony site in front of the gorgeous iron archway to the warmth of the brick walls in the ballroom. Kate and Travis and their family elevated it beyond belief. They did all the decor with gorgeous tablescapes of black and gold with candles melting intricately over their gold candlesticks and perfectly placed pressed leafs in the middle of a clean white plate and gold charger. The ambiance and lighting was delicate and dramatic at the same time. I was wowed.
I think the thing that really speaks to these too are the pinky promises during the ceremony. Their vows were serious and sweet and then dotted with the childlike charm of the pinky promise. It just echoed the whole day. You could see the elegance, intellect and intention behind everything and between the people and atmosphere there was innocent endearing love and so much lighthearted fun. Kate walked down the aisle with ping and her scarf saying “I do too” and there was a photo booth cracking everyone up as they took a break from the energetic dance floor. The day in whole was full of that kind of wonder and I know that it was truly reflective of their relationship and love. They will continue to have a marriage full of the elegant, fun, a little bit snarky, and true true love
Congrats to Kate & Travis. It was so so fun!
