I don’t think there is a better way to start the new year than with your very favorite person. Oh wait, add all your favorite people, then marry your favorite person. Yes, that is the best way to start the new year. For me, to witness the marriage of Dana and Robert was also the perfect start to a new year. Here are two people who are equally strong, independent, intelligent, funny, and frankly cool, who have found each other. What an incredible joy that is! After being at their wedding, I can’t even imagine what it has been like to see their love grow to this point. To me, they feel like a movie. Something, sweet and sentimental and a little unreal. Yet there they are, celebrating a love that is real.
Their vows were some of the most hilarious and profound words I have heard. I am pretty sure there was not a dry eye in the room and that was between the laughing fits. They each wrote their own and while Robert is a writer so we all had high expectations it was more than that. They had an intention behind them that went beyond that ooey-gooey feeling that love gives you. You can get a clear idea of how they will proceed in their marriage. The choices they will make, the sacrifices for the person standing across from them at the altar and the happiness and strength they will insert in one another. It was pretty inspiring.
Then, as if that weren’t enough it was followed by an elegant dinner party, epic dance party, and ringing in the new year like I have never seen. It made me want to go to a wedding. No, scratch that, it made me want to go to their wedding, every New Year. It was so fun walking around the room and seeing people of all ages and places celebrating together. The room was full of lights and love and it all combined made a magnificent night.
Congratulations Robert and Dana! You guys are the real thing and something worth celebrating.
